In 2019, my husband and I bought a twenty year old pop-up camper. After spending a couple of months making it road trip worthy, we packed up the kids - then just 9 and 11 and set out on a 17 day, 4,000 mile trip through Canada and New England. We have never been a “camping” family so everything was new and exciting - including the pop up feature opening on the highway before we even made it to Wisconsin!
“4,000 Miles and Change” was inspired by the sights and experiences of this magical, international adventure. Memories of the checkered picnic blanket that we used to cover every campground table, the spaghetti we ate more evenings than I care to remember, the bullfrogs that were incredibly loud and fun to catch in the dark of a Rochester, NY campground, waterfalls, the tropical plants we loved at the botanical garden in Montreal, sea life in Bar Harbor, crossing big rivers, maple leaves, sandpipers at the beach, Betty and Barney Hill’s UFO abduction site and seeing Forget-Me-Nots for the first time at a campground in Michigan’s U.P. are captured here on canvas.
